The Speak Up program includes introductory courses and workshops for people living with mental health issues to gain purposeful and safe education, while building individual capacity and confidence for achieving further education and employment opportunities.

Introduction to Zoom as a Learning Platform

  • Understand the history of Peer Work

Defining Frames of Mental Health Recovery Session 1

  • Deep dive and explore the meaning of Recovery
  • Get involved and discuss individual views on Recovery
  • Explore diverse world views on Recovery
  • Investigate different Recovery approaches and language
  • Date: Thursday 19th May 2022; Time: 1:30pm - 3:30pm

Sharing your Lived Experience

  • Define lived experience and what this means
  • Identify skills and expectations of sharing lived experience
  • Explore ways to manage your wellbeing before, during and after sharing your lived experience
  • Date: Monday 27th June 2022; Time: 10:30am - 1:30pm

Introduction to Peer Work Session 2

  • Uniqueness and differentiation of peer worker roles
  • Knowledge and understanding before entering the Peer Workforce
  • Where to now-exploring different opportunities

  • Develop skills in reflecting critically and compassionately on our own, and others’, frames of recovery
  • Drawing on diverse understandings of recovery to strengthen Peer work and our own recovery journeys

Understanding the Importance of Communicating Effectively
