We’re packing our bags, hitting the road, and “We’re All Ears!”

Between May and August, BEING will be visiting multiple rural and regional communities to meet with mental health organisations and consumers, to raise awareness of the work we do, and to listen to mental health consumers from all corners of the State. It’s a chance for us to hear from people in rural and regional communities about what are the big issues for you, and for us to get your input on our strategic planning including:

  • A position statement on rural and regional mental health
  • What you’d like to see in a NSW Human Rights Act
  • Our policy platform for the state election in 2027.

Whether you work for a mental health organisation and would like to meet with BEING to build a relationship, or you’re an individual with your own lived or living experience of mental health challenges and are keen to become a local advocate, we want to meet you!

Send us your details using this form and we’ll get back in touch with you to schedule a meeting.

Who’s on tour?

Giancarlo de Vera, BEING – Chief Executive Officer

“BEING can’t be a state peak without knowing what the regions think, so it’s incredibly important we build relationships and networks throughout NSW.

Our power as consumers lies in finding common ground across the diversity of our experiences, getting people behind a common vision for our mighty state. I’m looking forward to meeting people who want to shape and define that common vision, so our voice can’t be ignored!” – Giancarlo

Kylie Smith, BEING – Lived Experience Engagement Manager

“There is something incredibly special about showing up in a community, sitting down, and simply listening with no agenda, no assumptions, just genuine curiosity and care for the people in front of you.

For me, this roadshow is about building partnerships with communities that deserve to have BEING standing alongside them, holding space for people who have not always felt like there was space held for them, and understanding what mental health support truly needs to look like in their world, not ours. Every community will be different. Every conversation will teach me something new. And I genuinely cannot wait.” – Kylie
