RESOURCES TO ASSIST CONSUMERS WITH A PSYCHOSOCIAL DISABILITY NAVIGATE THE NDIS

What is Navigating My Way and why has it been created?

Navigating My Way is series of written, video and illustrated online resources designed to support NDIS participants with psychosocial disabilities to grow their knowledge of their rights when working with service providers, and to build skills and confidence in self-advocacy including how to:

  • communicate their needs
  • provide feedback and
  • make complaints.

Who is it for?

Primarily for consumers, Navigating My Way will also help support workers and service providers better understand participants with a psychosocial disability, build stronger relationships with them, avoid misunderstandings that can lead to complaints and resolve issues more quickly.

Who created it?

The Victorian Mental Illness Awareness Council (VMIAC), BEING’s equivalent in Victoria, was appointed to develop this national suite of resources. State peaks across Australia like BEING – Mental Health Consumers have been tasked with sharing the resources with their audiences to make them available countrywide.

Navigating My Way is hosted on the VMIAC website.
