In response to member interest, BEING has issued a statement regarding armed conflicts, including those in Gaza, Ukraine, Myanmar and elsewhere.
With Australia recognising the State of Palestine at the United Nations this week, BEING recognises how this will impact mental health consumers differently.

BEING represents all mental health consumers, and our members are politically, religiously, racially, culturally and ideologically diverse. The devasting impact of the loss of civilian life and human rights has a mental health impact regardless of what one thinks or where we from come from.

As mental health consumers we are bound together by our shared lived experience of mental health challenges, irrespective of personal circumstance. Our statement unequivocally condemns the harrowing loss of civilian life, especially children, in any armed conflict, recognises the hurt that polarisation can cause, and calls on members of BEING’s community to commit to a culture of dialogue that respects human rights.”
