You might have heard about some of the Federal Government’s proposals around health, such as introducing a GP co-payment.

In September 2014, we wrote to the Senate Committee that has been looking into these proposals to raise our concerns. In February 2015, the Senate Committee invited us to go to a hearing to talk further about how some of the health proposals might impact mental health consumers. Some of the issues discussed at the hearing include:

  • How the GP co-payment might impact mental health consumers
  • How the transition from Medicare Locals to Primary Health Networks would affect the Partners in Recovery program
  • How the open tender process for Primary Health Networks to private for-profit healthcare providers might impact mental health consumers

We would like to thank everyone who participated in our survey about the Federal Budget last year – and everyone who has engaged with us in other ways. Your input has really helped inform our advocacy work around these important issues.
