BEING in partnership with the NSW Mental Health Consumer Workers Committee and the Mental Health Commission of NSW, host the Consumer Workers Forum to support the growth and wellbeing of the NSW Health consumer workforce. This project does this specifically through consulting with NSW Health Consumer Workers.
NSW Health Mental Health Consumer Workers
NSW Health Mental Health Consumer Workers are people with the lived experience of mental illness, employed (either paid or volunteer) in consumer designated roles within public mental health services in NSW. Consumer Workers are employed to provide various services, such as peer support, education, representation and individual and systemic advocacy for mental health consumers.
The Annual Consumer Workers’ Forum
The NSW Consumer Workers’ Forum is an annual event that brings together the NSW’ Consumer Workers. This is a valuable and unique opportunity for Consumer Workers to connect with one another, share ideas and identify best practice to enhance services throughout the state.
In the past, the Forum has hosted key decision makers and thought leaders in the mental health sector, like The Mental Health Commissioner, John Feneley and Deputy Commissioner, Fay Jackson, leading researcher Leanne Craze, and consumer leaders in NSW including Leonie Manns and Douglas Holmes to name a few.. It also gives Consumer Workers a platform to talk about issues in their workplaces and innovative projects they are running to serve their local area.
The Forum is held on the last Thursday and Friday in November each year to support the professional development of the NSW Consumer Workforce.
For the latest news about this year’s Consumer Workers Forum, check out The Annual Consumer Workers’ Forum Page.
The Consumer Worker Forum is funded and supported by the Mental Health Commission of NSW.
