Current Being Surveys:

We currently have a number of online surveys open on a variety of topics. Feedback to these surveys inform our policy and advocacy work.

  • Seclusion and Restraint Review

We are putting in a written submission to the Review of Seclusion and Restraint in NSW which closes on the 24 September 2017. Responses to our survey will help inform our submission.

  • NSW Peer Workforce

We are currently undertaking a NSW Peer Workforce Survey in August and September 2017. The aim is to understand the current experiences of peer workers across all sectors of the mental health system. This survey is for consumer and carer peer workers employed across public, non-government, community managed and private sectors in paid or volunteer positions. Peer work is an incredibly important subject, increasingly so in the current mental health climate, and as such we have made a comprehensive survey about the experience of being a peer worker.

  • Experience with ECT

We are conducting a survey to hear about people’s experiences of Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT). We’ll use the results to inform our position statement on ECT, and to write an article about ECT. We know that these experiences are incredibly varied, and hope your responses will help us gain an accurate understanding of the circumstances under which people have ECT, and what affect the treatment has on people’s lives.   The survey is for anyone who has had ECT as treatment for a mental illness. This includes people who chose to have ECT, as well as people who were treated with ECT involuntarily. While Being is a NSW-based organisation, this survey is for people who have experienced ECT anywhere in the world.

  • NDIS and Mental Health

Our online survey about mental health and the NDIS is still open. We are keen to hear your feedback and experiences in this area. You do not have to be an NDIS participant to complete the survey. Because we don’t have much feedback in these areas, we are particularly interested in hearing from young people, people who have applied and been declined (or chosen not to apply) and people in regional or rural areas.

It would be appreciated if you can share the above surveys with anyone who may be interested. If you have any questions or would like a hard copy of a survey, please contact the Being policy team at or phone 9332 0200.
