We are currently visiting areas of NSW to hold consultations with people with lived experience of mental illness.
We will be asking people about the mental health system and other structures that affect people with mental illness, such as the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). It is only by listening to people with a lived experience of mental health issues that we can make a system that works for everyone.
We are pleased to have the opportunity to talk to people about issues faced by their community. We know different communities face different issues, and that people with mental health issues have diverse experiences.
We will use the feedback from these consultations to advocate to our government for change, and to drive our agenda for the future. We work with people to achieve and support change to improve the mental health system.
“The voice of people who experience mental illness is vital to change the hearts and minds of government and services. We need to make sure that the people that set policy and deliver the services we use are well informed of the way we, as customers, want the system to run” Sage Green, A/CEO, Being.
