Ashfield Mental for Recovery Forum
The 2014 Recovery Forum in Ashfield has sold out, almost two weeks before the event.
“This Forum provides a unique opportunity for people with a lived experience of mental health issues to come together, to learn from each other and to share,” said CEO Dr Peri O’Shea.
“With one in five Australians experiencing mental illness sometime in their lives, it’s critical that we are reaching as many people as possible.”
The Recovery Forum is a state-wide annual event run by the NSW Consumer Advisory Group.
This year’s Recovery Forum will be held in Ashfield Town Hall on Thursday 4 September. The theme for 2014 is ‘Whole of Health’. It will focus on how different facets of a person’s health (physical, spiritual, emotional, social and environmental) can impact on their mental health, both positively and negatively.
The program features a diverse range of speakers with a lived experience of mental illness, including: Refugee Art Project founder Safdar Ahmed, ex-NRL legend Wayne Wigham and local young person Jessica English.
