Our report for the Official Visitors Program Review is now on our website! It has also been submitted to the NSW Government.
Our findings included that many consumers have not heard of the Official Visitors, but most people who have used the Program were generally satisfied with the experiences.
Feedback on how to improve the Official Visitor Program seemed to suggest that Official Visitors needed to have more power, as well as a more regular physical presence in mental health inpatient units and better and more reliable follow up with consumers.
Other comments from consumers included a need for more promotion and education about the Official Visitor Program and more Official Visitors with a lived experience of mental illness.
